Journal Entry #6: Digital Business

  • I found the most surprising in this unit was that some people like to shop on line then going to the stores to see in person.

  •  I found it confusing how Paypal is so trusted. If they can trust that, then why can't they just trust the online websites themself.
  • No I haven never got anything on-line but my family and friends did before.
  • No I have never sold anything on-line.

  1. When buying online sometimes prices seem too good to be true so be careful of LARGE SHIPPING COSTS designed by the seller to get the real price through trickery. because people may not be aware of what the shipping cost may be, on top of their order.
  2. When buying using KIJIJI and other online service make sure buying is done in a PUBLIC PLACE and never send money via mail or other ways to the seller. because many people use online services like KIJIJI, and products on those websites may not always be real, it could be someone just looking for money.
  • I think the biggest issue among young people when it comes to onling shopping and selling, is that people don't realize how you have to check where and who you are getting your product from. If you don't check all the services, then your purchase may never come, or may come the completely wrong thing. Also when selling things online, you have to make sure you include all of the information needed.

Assignment #2: PayPal

  1. Pay pal stores helps you protect your information.
  2. Pay pal keeps you safe when shopping at all on-line stores by not sharing your information with sellers.
  3. Pay pal makes money through the fees that they charge to a payments
  4. If you don't get what you want  the customer gets 180 days to raise their concerns so that Pay pal can help.
  5. If I were to start a business I would allow payment using Pay pal because if I didn't I could lose the customers maybe
  6. I would prefer to use Pay pal because it keeps your  information safe.

"Assignment #1: Shopping Carts

  • 2 biggest reasons people still shop in stores are because its faster to go get what you want your self if you get it on the internet it may take a few weeks. Also you may not get what you have wanted if u got it from the internet.
  • 2 biggest reasons people shop on-line are it is easier you don't have to move out of the house and you might get better deals on-line
  • I would prefer to go down get it my self because then i would know what im getting.
  • I think it still would be the same because it probable still would be people who like going to the stores then doing it on-line.
  • This new thing they are focusing on is something that will probably stick in todays world. Everything is ordered and shipped to us, right to your door. This is not a small business change because its not just one place, its all over the world.
  • On-line shopping could insure that there is a 31 day return policy and that would make it easier for people to refund their stuff.

Journal Entry #5 (Digital Wellness)

  1. I found that most surprising when it comes to issues around Digital that people text all the time when there driving and think its ok.
  2.  find hard or confusing about this unit is that people still text and drive after they kow what can happen to them.
  3.  think is the biggest issue for young people when it comes to Digital Wellness is that all the new video games are out they stay on and play them instead of going out side to get fresh air.

  • Seeing these  distances in meter sticks made me feel you better not look away from the road when your driving because you might run off the road.

  • one reason this commercial is effective and one reason why it may not change anything. because people don't listen.
  •  an invention that can help keep drivers from being distracted and summarize it here is to be able to get your phone to say the messages to you.
  • The next time I am in a car with some one who is texting I will tell them not too because you might cause a crash.

Journal Entry #4 (Netiquette)

  1. The part I found surprising is that the rules that apply to the online discussion is basically the same rules people use in everyday life. They are all important and apply to everyone.
  2. I don't think many users pay any attention to the terms and conditions/usage agreements because I know I've never read them. I think people should start paying attention to them because  we might miss something important.
  3. I can take from this unit that I have to pay more attention to terms and conditions.
  4. Be aware of the terms and agreements.
      5.  I think the biggest issue is that we do not realize what actually can happen on line and how easy it is for              something to happen and I think the biggest issue when it comes to Netiquette among young people is                that they do not realize the punishments that can come with something they do that they are not                        supposed to.

Online Discussion Boards (Assignment #3)

1. Number 6 and number 12. Usually when people are talking to you face to face they respect you more than they would on line and if your in class they usually try to find the answer out them self before asking you.

2. I don't think many internet users bother reading the Terms of Service/Use agreements. It is just so many long paragraphs filled with minuscule writing, which looks menacing and time consuming. So just hit "I Agree", or "Accept" instead.
3. I have never made comments on an online like on you tube that I can remember, unless you count commenting on a Facebook status for a contest.

4.  No, I don't really think I would enjoy a course where I'd get to discuss issues online because people could be lieing about the real thing.

Assignment #2: "Netiquette" Do As I Say

Five things that will make me choose the right way of doing things in digital security:

  •  lots of work and time is put into making movies so they should get paid for them.
  • You should not download anything unless you really have too because that takes time.
  • Always go why the rules when it comes to the internet..
  • You should not download anything unless you really have too because that takes time.

Journal Entry #3 (Digital Rights and Responsibilities)

  1. I found most surprising was the responsibilities  you had I didn't know we had those rights of the internet.
  2. When it comes to the internet, people are stupid and don't know how to act. They use the internet to the . People do not act responsible when it comes to being on line.
  3.  I think the most important one I created I think is the 'Thou shall not bully online.
      4. The biggest issue in digital rights is  with young people these days would probably be downloading stuff they should not be downloading

Journal Entry #2 (Digital Communication)

What I found surprising that the maximum period of time you can wait to reply to someone is one week, and by that time by the time you answer its  considered rude. I learned that you are supposed to reply within 24 hours, most people do. I also learned that you should not type in all caps because it makes the person you are talking to think you are yelling  at them and that your loud . Blind Carbon Copy is an email field to which you can add several recipients, and the address is hidden from everyone else.  This can be used when people  forward emails without removing the addresses of previous recipients, which leads to messages that are repeatedly sent to many recipients. Out of this information I think the most important thing young people are to consider is to just think before you send and reply. Like is it good enough? Will they know who you are? How long ago did I receive the messege its  all important because once you send a message, it cannot be unsent so it has to be exactly what you want before you send it.

Acronyms Attack (Assignment Two)".

1.  LGFT - lets go fourwheeling today /tonight
GTGPH - got to go play hockey
LGPTB- lets go partying tonight boys / bud

2.  four places where you would NEVER use acronyms when communicating digitally

  • when your texting your boss
  • on a school project
  • on a sign
  • in school because teachers wouldn't know what you mean

Assignment #1 (Communication Compass)

  1. The definition of  of digital communication is Social media, texting, and portable connected devices, face book messaging too.
2.   4 digital communication advantages and 4 disadvantages are;
(Advantages)  1. It is fast and easier.
                          2. No paper is wasted.
                          3. The messages can be stored in the device for longer times, without being damaged, unlike                                 paper files that easily get damages or attacked by insects.
                          4. Digital communication can be done over large distances through internet and other things.

(disadvantages)  1. It is unreliable as the messages cannot be recognised by signatures. Though software can be developed for this, yet the software can be easily hacked.
                                2. Sometimes, the quickness of digital communication is harmful as messages can be sent with the click of a mouse. The person  not think and sends the message at an impulse.
                                3. Digital Communication has completely ignored the human touch. A personal touch cannot be established because all the computers will have the same font!
                                4. The establishment of Digital Communication causes degradation of the environment in some cases. "Electronic waste" is an example. The vibes given out by the telephone and cell phone towers are so strong that they can kill small birds. In fact the common sparrow has vanished due to so many towers coming up as the vibrations hit them on the head.
(got answers from yahoo)
3. The three most popular forms of digital communication today are Facebook is a big one and Texting is another and snap chat are the 3 biggest I think

4. I think maybe snap chat might not be around much longer because people can hack it really easy, maybe ask fm because people say bad stuff about other people  on it and maybe Facebook because people hack it also alot.

5. five locations or scenarios in real life where you really SHOULD NOT be communicating digitally are like when your in class in school because your not listing to the teacher , when your driving a truck or car because its dangerous  , when your at work because you wouldn't text at work because you would get fired, when your at a funeral you wouldn't text there and on a air plan because it might cause the plane to crash.

6.  If misused, all forms of digital communication can be dangerous. Cyberbullying and harassment is a serious problem in today's society. All forms of communication can be misused, whether its mean statuses on Facebook, embarrassing pictures on photo websites, everyone can be in danger. Many suicides can be linked to cyberbullying.

    7.  I think people, especially children will continue to be more connected, because technology is always advancing and will continue to do so. This is the way of of future.
I think when I person dies or cannot use digital communication anymore then their accumulated online communication data and internet activity should be left alone. Sometimes grieving family members find solace in old pictures, Facebook statues and memories of their loved ones.

 8. When a person dies, I believe that if they have Facebook, I think that people should keep the account on because the person who died he probable got friends they would want to look at the pictures they had and the good times.

monster mash

My art painting choose was to draw a monster in the water coming up at the boat trying to eat the boat. what inspired me to make this monster is my imagination. the easiest part of the assignment was putting the photo of the boat on. the hardest part was drawing the monster.
